Who we are

Dedicated To Your Pup's Wellbeing

Trusty Paws is run by Poppy from a salon on Christchurch Road in Pokesdown, serving Bournemouth, Boscombe, Southbourne and Christchurch.

The approach

Grooming isn't just a haircut, it's healthcare

Understanding that some dogs may have had challenging experiences with grooming, I also offer desensitisation and counter-conditioning sessions for anxious or aggressive pets. My gentle and patient approach helps these dogs feel safe and comfortable, transforming grooming into a positive experience.

Every pet deserves individual care and attention. That's why I pride myself on providing top-notch and personalised grooming, ensuring that each dog receives the dedicated care they need, fostering a trusting and positive relationship.

I believe that forcing a dog through a traumatic groom isn't the only way to make sure their needs are met, and with the right communication a scared dog can gain confidence in grooming.

Between appointments

Keeping your dog's coat healthy is a team effort

Keeping your dog's coat clean, healthy and comfortable is a team effort between both the groomer and the owner. Some coats require maintenance at home such as brushing between appointments — but I know it can be difficult to know exactly what to do, especially if you're not used to owning a dog with a specific coat type.

That's why I understand if your pup ends up with some matting, overgrown nails, or other results of not being able to keep up with a grooming schedule. I always offer help and advice on brushing techniques, how often you should be getting professional grooming appointments, and what else you can do at home in between grooms.

  • Advice, never judgement. Matting and overgrown nails are met with practical help and a plan, not a telling-off.
  • Free at-home guides. Brushing, desensitisation and nail trimming, explained clearly and simply.
  • Honest scheduling advice. How often your dog actually needs a groom depends on breed, clip and coat — you'll get a straight answer.
